In modern western culture, face painting is a fun activity where children and adults can get a fun and colourful design painted on their faces, usually at a party or carnival. Body and face painting is an art form that has been utilized by indigenous and modern cultures for many years and many reasons.
In Indigenous cultures, face and body painting was used in rituals. Indigenous tribes all around the world have utilized face and body painting in places such as North America, South America, Africa, Australia, and India. In many tribal cultures, body paint was made out of plant materials and animal-based pigments.

WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPLES
OF DESIGN?
There are many basic principles of design: contrast, balance, proportion, hierarchy, repetition, rhythm, pattern, white space, line, form, movement, colour, alignment, variety and texture. These visual elements work together to create appealing and functional designs whether you're a painter, interior designer, graphic designer or architect to name but a few.
WHAT IS TYPOGRAPHY?
Typography is the art of arranging letters and text in a way that makes the copy legible, clear, and visually appealing to the reader. It involves font style, appearance, and structure, which aims to create certain emotions and convey specific messages. In short, typography is what brings the text to life.
Typography is the art of text design. We can think of it as an artistic technique for creating illustrations and other graphic design objects. But, in addition to the artistic component, typography is primarily laws and rules that help the reader to easily scan and understand what is written.
The Seven Contrasts of Typography are size, weight, form, structure, texture, color, and direction.
WHAT IS PATTERN?
A pattern is a design in which lines, shapes, forms or colours are repeated. Patterns can be found anywhere. They can be made by repeating shape, line, or colour. Patterns can be simple like a checkerboard or complex like the branches of a tree.
Artists use patterns as decoration, as a technique of composition, or as an entire piece of artwork. Patterns are diverse and useful as a tool that grabs a viewer's attention, whether it be subtle or very apparent.
WHAT IS MANDALA?
There are 3 types of Mandala which include the sand mandala, the teaching mandala and the healing mandala.
What is special about Mandala Art?
The brilliant psychoanalyst Carl Jung believed that the mandala represents the Self and that drawing a mandala gives a person a sacred space to meet that Self. He considered making mandalas an effective form of art therapy, helping to calm and comfort people struggling with mental health issues.
